filk track

So we have our full staff on board, we’re beginning to get performer applications approved, and we’re sifting through a lot of the ideas that were given to us from fans and performers alike last year.

Some of the things we are hoping to do with the Filk Track at Dragon*Con 2010 are to communicate daily via multiple medias such as Twitter and Face Book. We’re also looking into trying to get some media for Dragon*Con TV as well as some pod casts, and we are also trying to see if we can’t do either some live broadcasting to the web (probably won’t happen but we haven’t given up yet!), or at least video uploaded shortly after it is recorded (100% doable).

In addition we’re hoping to get out of the track room and spread the love that is filk to other areas of the convention! One idea given to us by Marc Gunn (http://marcgunn.com/) was that some filkers could go around and entertain people who are stuck standing in lines! We thought, “Yes! A truly captive audience!”

Also, we’ll be doing another “insta-filk” workshop (perhaps more than one?) where we decide on a genre, subject, popular melody, and then write a filk song!
